(hey i don't know if this has been discussed here, if so, please direct me to the proper thread. )
what are some movies with little people in them? the classics? the worst?
i just saw station agent. i think that will go down in minima cinema history as a strong human portrayal of someone "different."
oh yes, there is also
The Wizard of Oz
Austin Powers
the kid rock music videos

Fri, March 5, 2004 - 1:22 AMstation agent...hmmmm.... it is a movie with trains as a main theme.
imo, it starts out well with much tonal promise then s-l-o-w-l-y derails into a predictable stupid midget mess.
the lead guy and the tall guy were both excellent. i think clarkson overacted.

Re: MIDGETS! cinema of the minima
Fri, March 5, 2004 - 1:58 PMi'm curious why so many people raved about station agent. what about that movie taps into the need of so many people? i don't get it. i noticed the same thing with Lost in Translation. Everybody and their mother liked it, and i thought it was okay, had lots of great things, but overall thought the it was ill-edited. almost student filmmy-like. but again it was adored by the indie masses and maybe real masses. what are they doing that i'm not doing in my work? hmmmmm. -

Re: MIDGETS! cinema of the minima
Fri, March 5, 2004 - 4:18 PMAs far as 'Lost In Translation' is concerned, although I haven't seen it myself yet (why?), a friend said that there seemed to be a love of the project coming through on the screen from everyone involved. Maybe had something to do with Sofia Coppolla? Didn't she write as well as direct it? Perhaps her enthusiasm for the film was contagious? Or perhaps it was just one of those films which, although striking a chord with critics and audiences alike, just doesn't do it for you, Jennifer? It is allowed... -

Re: MIDGETS! cinema of the minima
Tue, January 25, 2005 - 7:42 PMi just learned yesterday that Tiny Doll (real name Elly Schneider) the last of the Doll Family of midget sibling actors, died last September - a significant event for me, in that the Doll Family appeared in 2 of my all-time favorite movies: Freaks, and The Wizard of Oz.
here's a page about them:
