If you're a fan of independent film and happen to be in the Boston area, check out the event going on Sunday, March 20 at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge. It's called Chlotrudis Awards, and it's basically a little Indy Spirit Awards on the east coast honoring the best of last year's indie films and guest filmmakers in an irreverant and quirky manner. This year's guests include Lucas Belvaux, Belgian director whose French films, ON THE RUN, AN AMAZING COUPLE, and AFTER THE LIFE were released last year; Ellen Page, 17-year-old Canadian actress who starred in WILBY WONDERFUL and MARION BRIDGE, and will soon be shaking up the world with HARD CANDY; and John O'Brien, Vermont director whose Tunbridge Trilogy, VERMONT IS FOR LOVERS, A MAN WITH A PLAN and NOSEY PARKER blend real actors and residents of his hometown in charming and startling ways.
